Chechen authorities make Akhmat Kadyrov central figure of Remembrance and Grief Day
In the course of the mourning events of the Chechen people's Remembrance and Grief Day, the accent was made on the biography of Akhmat Kadyrov, the father of the current head of Chechnya.
Religious rites and animal sacrifices were held on May 10; the participants thereof, in particular, the Adam Ilyasov, the Kadi of Grozny, first of all mentioned Akhmat Kadyrov.
In the social network Mylistory, Ramzan Kadyrov also emphasized the role of his father, who "had left for the righteous world for the sake of saving the Chechen nation from total extermination."
Thus, the day of mourning for the victims of the 1944 Chechens' deportation was mixed up with the commemoration of one person, residents of Chechnya have noted.
One of them, named Sultan, has recalled that other repressed nations mark their National Mourning Days in the days of their deportations.
He was indignant of the fact that "Ingushes, Kalmyks, Balkars and other deported nations don't raise the issue of the date of their mourning day; however, our authorities have decided for the whole nation, when we should mourn and when rejoice, although those who survived during the deportation are still alive."
