Exhibition of historical Shushi photos opened in Stepanakert

Photographer Levon Atoyants presented in Stepanakert an exhibition of photographs dedicated to the city of Shushi. More than 80 photographs depict the city of 1962 and 1994.

Black and white photographs show the city with its architecture and residents in the Soviet era, while colour photos mostly portrait city residents and participants of the Karabakh war, reported Arthur Pogosyan, Armenian Deputy Minister for Culture, at the opening of the exhibition.

"This February, a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the field of preserving the historical and cultural heritage was signed between the Armenian Ministry for Culture and the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Ministry for Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism. The today's event is the beginning of a new cooperation," Arthur Pogosyan said.

Upon completion of the exposition, the author plans to present all photos as gifts to the Stepanakert Art Gallery, reports the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent who attended the opening of the exhibition.
