Armenian Defence Minister resigns

Vigen Sargsyan, the Armenian Minister of Defence, has resigned after meeting the new Premier, Nikol Pashinyan. Vigen Sargsyan has explained his resignation by political reasons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan was elected by the second attempt to be the Prime Minister of Armenia, and today President Armen Sargsyan has appointed him to be head of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Karen Karapetyan, who was until today the acting Premier, has resigned, but before that he fired two Deputy Defence Ministers, Artak Zeinalyan and Artak Davtyan.

Vigen Sargsyan has associated his early resignation from the post of the Armenian Defence Minister with the political changes that took place in the country, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
