Nikol Pashinyan elected Prime Minister of Armenia

59 delegates of the Armenian Parliament have voted to appoint Nikol Pashinyan the head of the Armenian government.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 1, Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the protests and the head of the "Elk" opposition bloc faction, failed to gain the sufficient number of MPs' votes to be approved as the Prime Minister. The re-voting was scheduled for today. Nikol Pashinyan again became the only candidate.

In the course of the voting, 59 MPs supported Nikol Pashinyan, while 42 others voted against him.

The digital board initially showed the information that 58 MPs voted for Nikol Pashinyan. However, it turned out that a button pressed by Gagik Tsarukyan, the head of the "Prosperous Armenia" Party, who voted for the oppositionist, was not activated, and his voice was added to the initial results, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
