Armenia's RPA calls on opposition to negotiate
Should all the Armenian political forces fail to sit down to negotiation table, mass protests can lead to clashes, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has stated. The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) "Dashnaktsutyun", which has quitted the coalition with the party in power, calls on the parliamentary factions to nominate a unified candidate for the post of Prime Minister.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today Karen Karapetyan, the Acting Prime Minister of Armenia, has rejected the proposal of Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the oppositional "Elk" parliamentary bloc, to start negotiating the transfer of power.
All political forces of the country should sit down to negotiation table to prevent clashes during protest actions, Vagram Bagdasaryan, the head of the RPA's faction, has stated today. He has stressed that the RPA is ready to negotiate with all political forces, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
All the factions of the Armenian parliament should agree on a single candidate for the post of Prime Minister, the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" has proposed today.
"On the eve of the May 1 sitting of the National Assembly, the ARF suggests, jointly with all the parliamentary factions, to form the common political agenda and consolidate around a single candidate, who enjoys people's trust," the "News-Armenia" quotes the statement of the ARF's press service.
