Resident of Chechnya sentenced for helping a militant
A resident of the Nadterechny District is found guilty of providing financial assistance to a militant and sentenced to three years of imprisonment, investigators report today.
According to them, in the autumn of 2014, a resident of the Znamenskoe village in the Nadterechny District rendered financial assistance amounting to 20,000 roubles to a member of the armed underground. The defendant transferred the money to a bank account, report the Investigating Department for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
"The defendant's actions fall within Part 1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (assistance in terrorist activities). The Article provides for a guilty person 5-15 years of imprisonment. Meanwhile, on April 25, with the sincere repentance of the defendant, his active assistance to investigators and other mitigating circumstances, the Nadterechny District of Chechnya sentenced him to three years of imprisonment," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed today by the ICRF's Department for Chechnya.
