More than 1000 people visit book fair in Vladikavkaz

In Vladikavkaz, a book fair with the drawing of books and numbers of national magazines have attracted active attention of city residents who called on to make the book forum a regular event. According to publishing houses, there is a rising interest in literature in the Ossetian language.

The largest publishing houses of North Ossetia, the republican Union of Writers and collectives of North-Ossetian magazines took part in the book fair in Vladikavkaz. The event was timed to coincide with the World Book and Copyright Day, celebrated on April 23, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The event aroused a great interest of residents. According to the evaluation released by the Committee for Press and Mass Communications of North Ossetia, the book fair was visited by more than 1000 people.

Agents of the publishing houses who took part in the book fair noted the increased interest in literature in the Ossetian language.

"If we compare the situation with that of five years ago, now people have become more active in buying and looking for Ossetian books. I cannot say that everyone reads literature in Ossetian. Meanwhile, for example, all books with translation of the 'Little Prince' into the Ossetian language were bought very quickly. I believe it is due to the fact that recently, a lot of attention has been paid to the preservation and development of our native language," Madina Djusoeva, the editor-in-chief of the "SAM" publishing house, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
