Yerevan: rally participants announce students' strike

During the rally held in the Republic Square in Yerevan, opponents of Serzh Sargsyan have announced the continuation of disobedience actions, demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister of Armenia and release of Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of protests, and all the detainees. Participants of the rally have stated that on April 23 students will start a strike.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today protesters marched from the Shengavit police station to the rally in Republic Square. By 7:30 p.m. local time, the police detained 277 demonstrators.

The meeting, according to its participants, was more than 150,000 strong. Demonstrators demanded to release MPs Nikol Pashinyan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Sasun Mikaelyan, as well as all those whom the police had detained and arrested in recent days, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

On behalf of university students, the rally announced a strike, scheduled for April 23. The initiators of the strike have created a page on the Facebook where they called on all students to gather near the building of the Armenian State Pedagogical University on April 23 at 9:00 a.m. local time.
