Number of Yerevan detainees reaches 277

The 26 demonstrators detained today in Armenia have become figurants of criminal cases; three more have been arrested, investigators have reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a new wave of detentions began in Yerevan after a failed negotiation attempt of Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the protest movement, and Serzh Sargsyan, the Armenian Prime Minister. The MP Pashinyan and two of his fellow MPs have been also detained.

By 7:30 p.m. local time, the police had detained 277 citizens, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the press service of the Armenian Police.

The Investigating Committee of Armenia has added to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that criminal cases were instituted on violation of public order, destruction of property and use of violence against policemen against 26 detainees.
