25 Armenian citizens accused of organizing illegal migration

The members of the grouping were sending citizens of Armenia, Central Asia and the Middle East abroad, the Armenia's National Security Service (NSS) has announced today.

The illegal migration channel was revealed back in 2017, the NSS' press centre has reported today. The charges of organizing and helping illegal migration were moved against 33 persons: 25 Armenian citizens and eight foreign ones.

"Two of them are now being searched for; and criminal cases against 19 defendants have been sent to the court; the preliminary investigation continues against 12 other suspects," say the statement posted on the NSS' website.

According to investigators, the grouping was engaged in transporting citizens of Armenia, Central Asia and Middle East to Schengen zone, USA, Turkey and other countries by using forged documents.

"The illegal migration rates varied from 350 to 10,000 US dollars," the report says.
