Russian authorities reject political nature in case against Magomedov brothers
The arrests of Ziyavudin and Magomed Magomedov, suspected of embezzlement, is not a "one-time action," but the result of tight control of the budget money. This has been announced by presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 31, Ziyavudin Magomedov, the chairman for the board of directors for the Summa" Group, and his brother Magomed Magomedov, a former senator, were arrested on suspicion of creating a criminal community and embezzling 2.5 billion roubles. Besides, Arthur Maksidov, General Director of the "Intex" Group, a member of the "Summa" Group, was also arrested.
The Magomedov brothers are associated with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, his deputy Arkady Dvorkovich and Nikolai Tokarev, President of the "Transneft", the "Vedomosti" reports with reference to Yevgeny Minchenko, the head of the "Minchenko Consulting".
Dmitry Peskov also called the "political gossip" the assumptions about the connection between the arrests of the Magomedov brothers and political processes, including the formation of a new government after the presidential election.
