HALO Trust sappers undergo surgeries in Stepanakert after mine explosion

The health condition of the two wounded sappers after they were operated on remains grave, one of them lost his legs, said the director of the Stepanakert medical centre.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on March 29, in Nagorno-Karabakh, a car of the international humanitarian organization HALO Trust got on a mine and blew up, killing three and wounding two persons. The casualties and victims are residents of Nagorno-Karabakh; doctors treat the health condition of the wounded persons as grave.

The condition of the 44-year-old Aram Mkrtchyan, who got internal traumas, remains stably grave after the surgery. The second wounded sapper, the 31-year-old Garik Gagiryan, had his legs amputated; his condition is assessed as grave, Armen Khachatryan, the director of the medical centre, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The HALO Trust has invited foreign experts to study the incident with the mine explosion in Nagorno-Karabakh. "The tragedy that occurred in the morning of March 29, once again shows the importance of our mission and the daily danger of our work," reads the report posted on the website of the Stepanakert office of the HALO Trust.
