Residents of Grozny: law enforcers voice threats against buyers of alcoholic drinks
Law enforcers, who are watching buyers of alcoholic drinks near a store in Grozny, seize from people the purchased alcoholic beverages and threaten them with sanctions, the "Caucasian Knot" was informed by local residents.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that inspection of buyers at the exit from the single hypermarket, legally selling alcoholic drinks in Grozny, stopped in early March after a clash between local and federal law enforcers. However, the searches were resumed several weeks later.
Local residents are afraid to buy alcoholic drinks even in those hours when it is officially allowed, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an employee of the hypermarket. "Local people fear of purchasing alcoholic drinks, since they are afraid to be got caught [by law enforcers], who will confiscate the alcoholic drinks," the woman said.
Khizir, a local resident, has admitted he stopped buying alcoholic drinks at the hypermarket after a similar incident. "On the other days, I was caught with a bottle of cognac, which I bought for my friend. Law enforcers seized it. And they even threatened to jail me for a month," Khizir said.
