Muslim activist detained in Stavropol Territory
In the Stavropol Territory, law enforcers detained Minatulla Omarov who participated in protests against the ban on wearing hijabs by schoolgirls.
In the evening on Thursday, March 15, Minatulla Omarov was detained and taken away from his house in the Fedorovsky farm yard in the Soviet District of the Stavropol Territory, reported Isa Kubiev, a friend of Minatulla Omarov.
"The farm yard residents are mostly Dagestanis. Fighters of the OMON (riot police) or the SOBR (special police force) arrived, I do not know exactly who they were. They searched the Minatulla Omarov's house. They allegedly found a grenade and a parcel of anasha or something else and took him away to the ROVD (District Interior Division). But he is believer in Allah! Then they also detained other residents of the farm yard, relatives of Minatulla Omarov. But they were later released," Isa Kubiev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Timur, a Minatulla Omarov's nephew, told the "Caucasian Knot" that he and other relatives of the detainee were questioned. "On the other day, we got summons and were accompanied to the Soviet ROVD in Zelenokumsk. Prior to that, they conducted a search, but seized nothing. When they were questioning us, they asked about Minatulla, about his job and so on," said the nephew of Minatulla Omarov.
