In Yerevan, more than 100 people come to action in memory of Arthur Sargsyan
Members of the front "For the sake of the Armenian state" held a rally and a march in memory of Arthur Sargsyan, who died a year ago after a hunger strike at SIZO (pre-trial prison). Participants of the action handed out pieces of bread to residents of Yerevan to remind them of the deed of Arthur Sargsyan, who in 2016 delivered food to members of the "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun) unit to the police building they had seized.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July 2016, in Yerevan, Arthur Sargsyan broke through the cordon around the police regiment building seized by members of the "Sasna Tsrer" unit and handed over the food products to the rebels. He stayed inside the building and was detained together with the surrendering members of the "Sasna Tsrer" unit. In December, he was released, but in February 2017, he was again detained. Arthur Sargsyan went on a hunger strike and refused medical help. After 25 days of his hunger strike, he was released and hospitalized. On March 16, 2017, Arthur Sargsyan died in hospital.
On March 16, a rally to mark a year passed since Arthur Sargsyan died in hospital was held in Freedom Square in Yerevan, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
According to the organizers of the action, it was attended by more than 100 people.
One of the organizers reported that during the action, the participants decided to honour the Arthur Sargsyan's memory and "once again comprehend the fight that Arthur Sargsyan started and promise that we would certainly continue the struggle he launched for the liberation of Armenia."
