Housing investor reports arrest threat for holding pickets in Gelendjik

Dalia Zaviatskene has held a solo picket in central Gelendjik, demanding to cancel the decision to demolish her house, and resignation of the city head. She said that policemen threatened to arrest her in case of continuing her pickets.

The construction of No. 79 in Krasnogvardeiskaya Street began in 2011; and in 2013 it was over. 440 people are apartment owners there. After the commissioning, the authorities of Gelendjik demanded, through the court, to recognize the house to be an illegal construction, stating that the land under it is in federal ownership; the tenants have stated in their appeal to the Public Prosecutor of Gelendjik.

Today, Dalia Zaviatskene, one of the tenants, according to her story, held her picket for three hours. "As usual, policemen approached me, although I explained to them that lawlessness is going on in the city; they threatened to arrest me if they see me there again. My explanation that I didn't violate anything, but, on the contrary, my rights were violated, was ignored," said the picketer.

The woman expressed her dissatisfaction with the Mayor's demand to demolish the already built residential building No. 79 in Krasnogvardeiskaya Street. "If our house is demolished, where will we all go? Does he think about us, people?" she asked.
