Law enforcers seize over one million roubles from chief of Dagestani customs department
During a search conducted within a case of fraud, foreign currency and more than one million roubles were discovered in an office of the department chief of one of the customs checkpoints in Dagestan, investigators report.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 2, a source from the law enforcement bodies of Dagestan announced the detention of three customs officers, suspected of extorting bribes. The source refused to disclose the names of the detainees, but noted that among them there was the chief of one of the customs departments.
Searches in offices of the customs checkpoint of the Dagestani customs and the Dagestani Department of the "Rosselkhoznadzor" (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) were conducted within the investigation into a criminal case instituted against a specialist of the quarantine phytosanitary control department.
US dollars and more than one million roubles have been seized from the office of the chief for the special customs procedures department, and the investigation is underway to identify other persons involved in the fraud, the Southern Investigating Department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports on its website today.
