Investigators deny involvement of Georgian snipers in events on Maidan

The Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine has not found any confirmation to the version stating that Georgian snipers were involved in shooting of protesters in Kiev in 2014. This was reported by the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office itself.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that five former fighters of the special unit "Berkut" were involved as defendants in the case on shooting of protestors in Maidan in February 2014. In November 2016, former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych called the events on Maidan a "planned provocation."

Viktor Yanukovych is wanted by Ukraine in connection with the events of Euromaidan. He left for Russia and delivered speeches on public in Rostov-on-Don.

In November 2017, the Italian media released the Gian Micalessin's documentary film "Ukraine: the Hidden Truth". The heroes of the film, who introduced themselves as Koba Nergadze, Zalogi Kvaratskheliya and Alexander Revazishvili, reported that during the events on Maidan, they were members of an armed unit and entered the "Ukraine" Hotel and the Kiev Conservatory. They got orders from the Ukrainian opposition to shoot at "Berkut" fighters and protesters. Zalogi Kvaratskheliya also added that he had been a sniper while serving in the Georgian army, the "Gromadskoye" reports.

According to Sergey Gorbatyuk, the chief for the Special Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, people with surnames Nergadze, Kvaratskheliya and Revazishvili did not enter Ukraine during the period of Euromaidan.

Former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili also denied the version about "Georgian snipers."
