Law enforcers tell details of Kizlyar shootout

At the celebration of the "Maslenitsa" (Shrovetide) in Kizlyar, a 23-year-old local resident opened fire at the crowd, investigators report.

Five people were killed, including the shooter.

"At an attempt to detain him, the attacker wounded two policemen and was shot dead," the website of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports.

The shooting was started by the husband and wife; the woman thus ran away, the "Interfax" reports referring to its source.

However, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan has refuted this information.

"According to our data, there was no detained woman. There was one criminal, who shot at the crowd and was killed," Ruslan Ibragimgadjiev, the head of the press service of the Dagestani MIA, has stated.
