Large-scale exercises held at Russian base in Abkhazia
About 1000 militaries and 100 units of equipment took part in combat firing at the Russian military base in Abkhazia, the Southern Military District (SMD) has reported.
The exercises were attended by motorized rifle divisions of the Russian Federation. The militaries mastered firing off the targets, by using modern armoured vehicles, machine guns and grenades, the SMD has reported.
In total, about 1000 servicemen took part in the day and night combat firing; and up to 100 units of military equipment were involved.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that exercises with the participation of about 500 Russian militaries were also held in Abkhazia in September 2017.
