Dagestani women demand information about their missing sons
Fifteen mothers, whose sons had disappeared in Dagestan, have appealed to the acting head of the republic Vladimir Vasiliev and Russian President Vladimir Putin with a demand to investigate the disappearance of their sons.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that mothers of missing residents of Dagestan set up the movement "Mother's Heart", aiming to counteract kidnappings and extrajudicial executions.
Zhanna Ismailova, the head of the movement "Mother's Heart", has noted that in the period from 2012 to 2018, mothers of missing persons repeatedly applied to the authorities, but "received only runarounds."
According to her story, since 2012, 86 young people from Dagestan have disappeared.
Ms Ismailova herself is searching for her son Rashid, who disappeared in Makhachkala in May 2012.
According to the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Human Rights Defence), on May 8, 2012, Rashid Ismailov was taken away from his home by armed people. His relatives said that he was a practicing Muslim.
The mother of Magomed Karakhanov, who went missing in 2015, noted that her son was disabled' however, he was declared a member of an extremist grouping.
Magomed Karakhanov disappeared on May 6, 2015, from the territory of a Derbent hospital.
The mother of Islam Magomedov has stated that if her son had violated the law, she would not mind his prosecution under the law.
Islam Magomedov disappeared along with three other residents of Dagestan on September 28, 2016.
Makhaev's mother has stated that she has irrefutable evidence of the involvement of law enforcers in the kidnapping of her son and his three friends.
