Oyub Titiev receives dentist's help three weeks after his detention

Law enforcers issued for Oyub Titiev, who claimed having eating problems, a pass for four visits to a dentist. This was reported by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" on January 31.

Oyub Titiev, the head of the representative office in Grozny of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" in Chechnya, was arrested on January 11 for two months on charges of possessing marijuana. Titiev had stated that the drug was planted on him by a law enforcer.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Oyub Titiev was detained on January 9. On that day, he planned to visit a dentist to try on dentures. Investigators did not allow Oyub Titiev to be visited by a dentist, despite the fact that the detainee was experiencing severe pain when eating and was not able to consume solid food, advocate Pyotr Zaikin and Oleg Orlov, a member of the board for the HRC "Memorial", reported on January 15.

On January 30, Oyub Titiev was finally allowed to get help of his dentist at a medical room at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), the press service for the HRC "Memorial" reported on January 31.

"The dentist was given a pass for four visits to the SIZO," reports the message posted on the HRC's website.
