"Veduchi" Resort in Chechnya opened under enhanced security measures

On the eve of the solemn opening of the "Veduchi" Ski Resort, law enforcers blocked the roads in the Itum-Kali District of Chechnya and carefully inspected all the cars, local residents have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the "Veduchi" Mountain Ski Resort was opened in the Itum-Kali District. Due to the insufficient snow thickness, Chechen authorities arranged a large-scale delivery of snow to the resort from other places.

The resort has already launched a kilometre-long ski slope and an 800-meter-long cableway, the Chechen Government's Committee for Tourism has reported.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ramzan Kadyrov, the Chechen leader.

In the last few days, the works at the resort were run in the emergency mode, said Salavdi, an employee of a Grozny motor company.

So far, a large inflow of tourists to the resort cannot be expected, Khasan, a resident of the Itum-Kali District, has suggested. According to his version, the "real winter season" in the Itum-Kali District lasts from January to March, as a maximum.

Imran, another local resident, spoke about serious problems with traffic in the Itum-Kali District on the eve of the resort opening.

The delivery of snow to the resort had also created problems for drivers, Anzor, another local, has complained.
