Activist Zviad Kuprava and his wife beaten in Tbilisi
Zviad Kuprava, the leader of the "Centre for Law Enforcement Reform", and his wife were injured as a result of an attack.
They were attacked at the entrance of the house where the Kuprava family lived. Zviad Kuprava suffered a head injury, and his wife got a broken arm. "I believe the attack on me may be associated with the investigation into embezzlement in the security police budget amounting to 28 million laris (about 12 million US dollars, note of the 'Caucasian Knot'), in which the 'Centre for Law Enforcement Reform' is engaged now," Zviad Kuprava stated.
The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported the detention of a 48-year-old suspect. According to the police, Zviad Kuprava had a conflict with his neighbour, the "Georgia News" reports.
Zviad Kuprava himself denied the police version. "I would like to announce that I have no conflicts with my neighbours, so they had no reason to attack me!" he wrote on Facebook.
