Azerbaijan increases number of its peacekeepers in Afghanistan

A group of 70 Azerbaijani soldiers and officers sent to Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan has increased the number of its peacekeepers in Afghanistan from 94 to 120 soldiers and officers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that peacekeepers from Azerbaijan participate in the NATO operation in Afghanistan since 2002. In 2016, the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan involved 90 soldiers and officers from Azerbaijan.

According to the press service for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for Azerbaijan, the country met the NATO's request to partners and expanded its participation in the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.

The number of 120 Azerbaijani peacekeepers includes six officers and two military doctors. Besides, Azerbaijan also provided airspace for NATO flights to Afghanistan.
