Vladikavkaz launches collection of signatures for compulsory study of Ossetian language
The Association of Teachers and Researchers of the Ossetian Language and Literature collects signatures under an appeal to the President of Russia with a request to introduce a compulsory study of the second state language in schools of Northern Ossetia.
The authors of the appeal believe the federal educational standards do not contain the discipline "State language of republic," and regions cannot independently include the study of local languages in the school programme.
Starting from December 27, anyone can sign the appeal at the Northern Ossetian State Pedagogical Institute, reports in his Facebook philologist Tamerlan Kambolov, the adviser to the leader of Northern Ossetia on national and cultural development.
