Wife of Dagestani Mufti nominates herself for Russian presidency

Aina Gamzatova, the editor-in-chief of the "Islam" magazine and the wife of the Mufti of Dagestan, has sent documents to the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) asking to register her as a candidate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the presidential election will be held on March 18, 2018. The election campaign was launched on December 18.

Aina (Patimat) Gamzatova is a Muslim journalist, an adviser to the Mufti of the Republic of Dagestan for relations with the authorities, the editor-in-chief of the "Islam" magazine, and the wife of Akhmad Abdulaev, the Mufti of Dagestan, the "Makhachkala Izvestia" reports.
