"Right-Hand-Drive" activists hold protest motor rally in Yerevan

In Yerevan, participants of a motor rally have demanded to withdraw the bill to ban import of right-hand-drive cars to Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Armenian Ministry of Transport put forward an initiative to temporarily restrict import and ban the exploitation of right-hand-drive cars. Users of social networks and members of NGOs that protect the rights of motorists criticized the initiative.

On December 22, a motor rally with the demand to withdraw the bill was held in Yerevan. According to organizers of the motor rally, about 80 right-hand-drive vehicles took part in the protest action. The rally started from the monument to Commander Andranik Ozanyan in the South-Western quarter of Yerevan. The motor rally was finished in Republic Square, where the government building is located.

According to activists, it was decided to ban import and re-registration of right-hand drive cars in the interests of large car dealers. Owners of right-hand-drive cars will hold protest actions until the bill is withdrawn, announced Gevorg Adjemyan, a coordinator of the initiative "Right-Hand-Drive", an organizer of the protest action.

"According to the preliminary information, Vaan Martirosyan, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies, has expressed his willingness to meet us," stated Gevorg Adjemyan as quoted by the "Newsarmenia.am".
