CTO regime lifted in KBR's Urvan District

The counter-terrorist operation (CTO), held in the Urvan District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), where a shootout with policemen took place on December 15, is over, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 15, policemen tried to stop a suspicious car near the village of Urvan in the Urvan District of the KBR. The men opened fire from inside the car on policemen; the NAC reports liquidation of one militant. According to a law enforcement source, two policemen were contused. The CTO regime was introduced in the district.

The CTO regime was lifted this morning, the "Interfax" reports with reference to the NAC's Operative Headquarters in the KBR.

The casualty has been identified as Aslan Urusov, a 29-year-old KBR resident. According to law enforcers, he was an adherent of a "religious extremist ideology"; the second attacker managed to escape.
