Court leaves former Makhachkala Mayor in colony (+video)

The judge refused to grant the motion of the defence of the former Makhachkala Mayor to release him from colony for health reasons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 14, the court took into account the doctors' conclusion that Amirov's disability does not allow him to stay in the colony, but postponed the announcement of the decision till today.

In August 2015, the court sentenced Amirov to life imprisonment for murders, banditry and terrorism. The former Mayor is serving his sentence in the Orenburg Region. The decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) passed in October 2017 on Amirov's complaint equated his stay in colony to torture, said his advocate. Doctors, who examined Amirov, agreed that he should be released.

Today, the Sol-Iletsk District Court of the Orenburg Region has ruled to dismiss the defence's motion, the court's press service has reported.

The defence intends to appeal against the ruling, said Vladimir Postanyuk, an advocate.
