Businessman Pavel Ardzinba shot dead in Abkhazia

Pavel Ardzinba, suspected of an assassination attempt on the former Abkhazian President Alexander Ankvab, was killed assassinated in the Sukhumi-Psou Highway. His acquaintance Dmitry Khagba was shot dead together with him, the Abkhaz Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported.

The murder of the well-known businessman became known this evening, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to the above MIA, near the village of Verkhnaya Eshera, past the Gumistin Bridge, a Mercedes-Benz car was shelled from automatic firearms.

Pavel Ardzinba, the president of the Abkhaz-Turkish "Abtur" Company, was put on the international wanted list in connection with the criminal case on the attempted assassination of the former president of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab and the murder of two officers of the State Security Service (SSS).

According to the media, Ardzinba has been detained, interrogated and released on bail and recognizance not to leave.
