Remains of Red Army soldier killed in WWII reburied in Makhachkala
On December 11, Makhachkala hosted a ceremony to rebury the remains of Sergeant Mukhamed Kazbekov, killed in battles near Leningrad during World War II.
The event was held at the Makhachkala military cemetery within the All-Russian project "The Road Home", the website of the Dagestani leader reports.
The remains of the body of Mukhamed Kazbekov, a native of the Babayurt District, were found by the squad "Ropsha" during the search activities in 2016. The soldier was identified due to a personal note found. At the same place, activists found a medal "For the Defence of Leningrad".
According to the websites "Memorial" and "Podvig Naroda", Mukhamed Kazbekov served as a gunner in the 930th Rifle Regiment of the 256th Division, and he was killed near Voronovo on July 27, 1943, the TASS reports.
