Kaspiysk residents demand to close brick factories

At their meeting, residents of the Kirpichny village claimed the operation of six brick factories in the suburbs of Kaspiysk led to an ecological disaster.

The ecological state of the Kirpichny village was discussed on December 6.

The hearings were initiated by the Kirpichny villagers. According to their version, the village has been an "ecological disaster" of Dagestan for more than thirty years, a certain kind of the Dagestani "Chernobyl", the "Chernovik" (Draft) reports with reference to the essence of the discussions that took place at the hearings.

The people have expressed their claims to six brick factories operated in the territory of the village. The brick factories charge waste to a local landfill, which, according to the local residents, was never cleaned by anybody.

"All the recent deaths of the factory workers are associated with oncology. Our children will soon be all 'oncological.' We need to do something! Why do we have so many factories in one village? One or two is enough!" said Magomed Zulpukarov, one of the participants in the meeting.

The man has said that earlier, the locals also used to appeal to the leaders of the republic and the country. However, the problem is not solved, and now people are going to file a complaint to Vladimir Vasiliev, the new leader of the republic.
