In Kiev, Mikhail Saakashvili detained after a search in his apartment

Today, at the initiative of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, law enforcers have started to search an apartment of Mikhail Saakashvili in the case of an attempted coup d'état.

After the law enforcers broke into the apartment, Mikhail Saakashvili climbed onto the roof of the house and threatened to jump from there. He claimed there was an attempt to kidnap him in order to "place him in prison" in Ukraine or in Georgia and urged citizens of Ukraine to come to the streets in protest. Special troop fighters used a fire ladder to reach the roof and took the politician back inside the house.

In the centre of Kiev, a clash occurred near the house of Mikhail Saakashvili of his supporters and special troop fighters. Supporters of the former Georgian President tried to break through the law enforcers' cordon blocking the access to the entrance with the politician's apartment, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

After that, law enforcers put Mikhail Saakashvili in a minivan, broke through the protesters' cordon and took him away, the "Newsone" TV Channel reports online from Kiev.

Let us remind you that on July 26, Mikhail Saakashvili was deprived of his Ukrainian citizenship; however, on September 10, he broke through the Ukrainian border with Poland and returned to Ukraine.
