"Novaya Gazeta": law enforces deceive Dagestani returnees from Syria

Dagestani law enforcers have taken away from Khalimat Alkhotova, who had returned from Syria to Russia, a document on her voluntary surrender. Now, policemen extort money from parents of the girls returning to Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 13, 41 persons were brought from Syria to Grozny, women and children, among them 34 natives of Russian Regions.

At the Grozny Airport, Alkhotova wrote a confession, the website of the "Novaya Gazeta" reports. However, after the law enforcers handed the girl over to her parents, she was detained by Dagestani law enforcers. On the way to Makhachkala, her confession was taken away from her.

"My daughter left homeland on May 20, 2015, by stupidity. Her neighbour, who was in Syria then, promised a paradise life to her," the newspaper quotes Khalimat's mother as saying.

"Law enforcers know that she had married there and gave birth to a baby: they know that she had fought fight nowhere. And now, they are violating their guarantees," said the mother.

Earlier, on October 24, the residents of Dagestan Zagidat Abakarova and Muslim Kurbanova, returnees from the Middle East, were arrested, although they have breast-fed babies.

Sources of the "Novaya Gazeta" have also reported extortion of money from the parents of the girls returning to Dagestan. "They claim half a million roubles to stop the case through a voluntary surrender," the paper's article asserts.
