Balagov's "Tesnota" (Tightness) movie awarded at International Festival
On November 12, the movie by film director from Kabardino-Balkaria received the award of the TV Channel of the Greek Parliament at the International Film Festival in Thessaloniki. The actress Daria Zhovner, who played the main character, was awarded for the best female role.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the "Tesnota" movie has already received several awards. In particular, it won the main prize in the second most important contest programme "Special View" of the Cannes Film Festival.
The action of the movie takes place in Nalchik in late 1990s. The film tells the story of a Jewish family from which a young man and his bride were kidnapped. In order to pay the ransom, relatives have to sell their business and seek help from the community.
Kantemir Balagov was nominated for the "Caucasian Knot" contest "Hero of the Caucasus 2016" for his brevity to speak in the language of art about what is being hushed up.
