Russian skiers deprived of two medals from Sochi Olympic Games
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has found out that four Russia skiers took doping and annulled their results at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in January, sources from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reported about the upcoming deprivation of Olympic medals for skiers Alexander Legkov and Maxim Vylegzhanin. On November 1, the IOC annulled the result of Alexander Legkov and suspended him for life from performing at the Olympic Games.
Today, the IOC has annulled the Olympic results of Maxim Vylegzhanin and three other Russian skiers, including Alexei Petukhov, Yevgeny Shapovalov, and Yulia Ivanova. As a result, Russia lost two medals of the Sochi Olympic Games.
Besides, those athletes are prohibited from participating in Olympic Games in the future, the "R-Sport" reports with reference to Elena Vyalbe, President of the Cross Country Ski Federation of Russia.
According to Yuri Kaminsky, the coach of the Russian national skiing team, it is not proved that the athletes were involved in fraud and deliberately used doping. "The athletes might be unaware of anything, and they suffer for political reasons," stated Yuri Kaminsky as quoted by the "RT".
