Eyewitnesses report details of attack in Ingushetia

One of the wounded policemen, who refused to give his name, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent this night about the attack on the DPS post in Ingushetia. According to his story, there were presumably two attackers. One of them ran into the building of the block post and threw a backpack onto the floor, after which an explosion occurred; the suicide bomber died on the spot. The second attacker fired back to law enforcers near the post, said the wounded policeman.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on November 5, several militants attacked a DPS post stationed near the village of Yandare in the Nazran District. A suicide bomber was among them, who blew a bomb, having the power of 8 kilos in TNT (trotyl) equivalent, inside the post building. Two policemen were killed by the explosion. Other militants opened a shootout with policemen; and two militants were shot dead, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reports. The Nazran District was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime.

A doctor of the republic's clinical hospital told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, on the condition of anonymity, that he was called to the hospital at 8:00 p.m. Moscow time. According to his story, he communicated with four wounded persons; however, the doctor found it difficult to specify the total number of victims and clarify whether there were civilians among them.

Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the human rights organization "Mashr", who runs his blog on the "Caucasian Knot", said tonight that he heard the explosion and shots, since the above DPS post is near his office.

"The today's explosion and shots sounded like they shelled my house and office," Mr Mutsolgov wrote in his entry entitled "We are victims of our own mistakes and disastrous policy".
