Picket in support of Sochi activists held in Hollywood

Arthur Volkov-Minullin, a resident of Sochi, has held a solo picket on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles aiming to draw attention of as many passersby as possible to the violation of rights of Alexei Navalny's supporters Olesya Khristosenko and Konstantin Gudimov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 24, a Sochi court sentenced Konstantin Gudimov to 12 days of arrest, and Olesya Khristosenko – to eight days. The court decided that a bike tour around the city with balloons with Navalny's symbols, and photographing activists near Navalny's office were unsanctioned public actions.

According to Arthur Volkov-Minullin, he came to Los Angeles on vacation and decided to hold a picket "in order to draw attention to the arbitrariness that reigns in Russia." He held his picket for three hours on November 4 in city centre, in Hollywood Boulevard.

According to his story, "passersby reacted positively to his action." "People came up to me and wished the detainees the strength, patience and perseverance. Strangely enough, you may hold a picket freely anywhere except Russia," said Arthur Volkov-Minullin.
