In Northern Caucasus, cinemas of seven cities take risk to screen Matilda

Today, in the cities of Northern Caucasus, including Makhachkala, Kaspiysk, Nalchik, Cherkessk, Vladikavkaz, Pyatigorsk, and Stavropol, only a few cinemas have started screening "Matilda" film which provoked public resonance yet before its premiere.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the premiere of "Matilda" directed by Alexei Uchitel has been scheduled for today. On October 13, Roman Mikhailov, the spokesman for the "Luxor" cinemas, reported that Russian cinemas received threats in connection with the upcoming screening of "Matilda".

"Matilda" describes a story about the fate of ballerina Matilda Kshesinskaya, with whom future Russian emperor Nicholas II was in love. Critics of the film believe that the image created in "Matilda" does not correspond to the image of Emperor Nicholas II canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church.

Major Makhachkala cinemas "Russia" and "October" have refused to screen "Matilda", and it does not appear in the billboards of those cinemas for October 26 and 27.

Meanwhile, starting from today, the film is screened by the relatively small "Cinema Hall" in Makhachkala and by the "Moscow" cinema in Kaspiysk, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, the film is screened only by one cinema: "Deya Cinema" in Nalchik.

In Cherkessk, the film is screened by the "Charlie" cinema, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Olga Sinyukova, the cinema advertising manager.

According to the data of Yandex.Afisha, beside Makhachkala, Kaspiysk, Nalchik, and Cherkessk, the sensational film have appeared in cinemas only in three other cities of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), including Vladikavkaz, Stavropol, and Pyatigorsk.
