Makhachkala opens Sheikh Chirkeisky Mosque
The mosque named after Sheikh Said-Afandi Chirkeisky, killed in 2012, has been opened in the village of Shamkhal in the Kirov District of Makhachkala. It is able to accommodate 300 people at once.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 28, 2012, the Sufi Sheikh Said Atsaev (Chirkeisky) was killed as a result of an explosion in his house. A bomb was activated by a female suicide bomber. In total, the explosion killed eight persons, including the suicide bomber. On April 21, 2015, three defendants in the case were sentenced to life imprisonment. The fourth defendant was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment.
On the day of the opening of the mosque named after the killed theologian, the Majlis of the Alims was held in the Shamkhal village in the Kirov District of Makhachkala. Upon his completion, Ramazan Aliev, Imam of the Shamkhal village, introduced to the people Murad Paizulaev, Imam of the new mosque, the website of the Makhachkala administration reported on October 23.
"The construction of the mosque lasted for two years, and it can accommodate 300 people," reported Ramazan Aliev as quoted by the TASS.
