Two Rostov Region residents sentenced for using slave labour

Pyotr and Vasily Nikolaenko, residents of the Millerovo District, who kept two women in slavery, were sentenced to seven and five years of imprisonment in a penal colony. This has been reported today by investigators.

The court found out that in 2016, Pyotr Nikolaenko brought two homeless women to his home. He took their passports away from the women and forced them to do housework for free under the threat of violence. In this January, the women tried to escape, but the man together with his son caught them at a bus station and brought them back to his place, reported the Investigating Department for the Rostov Region of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

"Pyotr Nikolaenko inflicted bodily injuries to the women to stop their further attempts to escape. Several days later, the women were released by the police," reported the ICRF's Department for the Rostov Region.

The Millerovo District Court sentenced Pyotr Nikolaenko to seven years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony and his son Vasily to five years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony.
