Friends of man who disappeared in Chechnya question Tatiana Moskalkova's report

Yet in January, law enforcers informed relatives of Makhma Muskiev that he had been killed. After that, Makhma Muskiev did not appear at home and could not be brought from Tsotsi-Yurt to a meeting with the Russia's Ombudsperson, believe residents of Chechnya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 20, the authorities presented to Russia's Ombudsperson Tatiana Moskalkova two persons from the "execution list" published by the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta". Instead of Makhma Muskiev and Shamkhan Yusupov, law enforcers brought their brothers, reported the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".

Makhma Muskiev did not appear at home since January, and after detention his relatives were informed of his death, reported Akhmad, an acquaintance of the Muskiev family.

"There are good reasons to say that Makhma Muskiev is dead. Law enforcers openly told his family members that he had been killed on the motives of blood feud and that other detained members of the family faced long terms of imprisonment. Law enforcers called Makhma Muskiev a 'militant Amir'," said the leader of a local NGO.

The activist associates the unexpected return of the Muskiev family members to Chechnya with the Tatiana Moskalkova's visit to Grozny.

According to the activist's information, Madina Shakhbieva, detained in December 2016, was executed by her relatives who worked for the law enforcement agencies.

Law enforcers demanded from relatives of some disappeared people to write statements that they had left for Syria, said Khamzat, a resident of Chechnya. He suggests the situation in Chechnya suits the authorities.
