Akhsan Nuruzade pressured after detention in Baku, his advocate complains

An administrative arrest of Akhsan Nuruzade, a religious activist and a member of the "Muslim Unity"movement, will be challenged. This was reported by his advocate Yalchin Imanov. According to him, after the detention, Akhsan Nuruzade was subjected to pressure.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Akhsan Nuruzade was detained on September 19.

On September 23, advocate Yalchin Imanov visited Akhsan Nuruzade at a detention facility for administratively arrested persons in the Binagadi District of Baku.

"Akhsan Nuruzade said he never committed an administrative offense charged against him," the advocate told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. And the defender continued: "My client was accused that on September 22, passing by a building of the Chief Department for Combating Organized Crime at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), he 'talked to someone via his mobile phone and voiced words insulting' to the above agency."

Yalchin Imanov has prepared an appeal and intends to file it to court on September 25.

"There are a lot of violations in the case. On September 19, Akhsan Nuruzade was detained. He was not allowed to inform his family members about his detention and to call an advocate of his choice. In violation of the law, he was kept at the police for three days without trial. In the case, there are no other witnesses, except for the policemen themselves," the advocate has summed up.
