The Human Rights Centre of Azerbaijan said on 20 May at least 30 activists from various election blocs and movements have been subject to various administrative punishments on the eve of an opposition protest action scheduled for 21 May. At least 15 have been arrested for up to five days.

The press service for the Three election bloc which includes the Musavat Party, the Democratic Party and the People's Front of Azerbaijan party has distributed a release that says sweeping arrests of oppositionists are directly linked with the public meeting of the opposition scheduled for 21 May.
