Gukovo miners claim provocations can occur during march in Rostov-on-Don

In Rostov-on-Don, a march of Gukovo miners should be coordinated with each municipality along the route. This was stated by the Gukovo administration. On the day of the march start, provocations may occur with the purpose to stop the action by force, members of the initiative group believe.

Since the spring of 2016, "Kingcoal" miners have been regularly protesting in Gukovo and Rostov-on-Don, demanding repayment of their salary debts and issuance of ration coal.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that miners from the "Kingcoal" Company from Gukovo made a decision to hold a march in Rostov-on-Don to meet the Governor of the Rostov Region.

On August 29, the miners got a response from the Gukovo administration about the planned march. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Valery Dyakonov, a coordinator of the miners' protest action.

In its response, the Gukovo administration warns the miners that since their march will take place with posters and with the public attention, then it is a public event, and therefore, the activists should notify about the action the municipalities on which territories it will be held. The notifications are to be filed 10 days before the beginning of the action.

Instead of arranging a meeting with the Governor, they begin to voice threats, and that means the law enforcement agencies will be involved to act against the participants of the miners' action, Valery Dyakonov believes.

He has called on the Governor of the Rostov Region to prevent the forceful dispersal of the miners' protest action and to meet the people.

According to Valery Dyakonov, he hopes the authorities will listen to the miners and will not resort to the help of law enforcers.

Tatiana Avachyova, a member of the initiative group of miners, believes that on the day of the march start, participants of the protest action may be arrested, and the force may be used against them, after which the organizers will be blamed for the incident.
