Fire at Georgian National Park breaks out with renewed vigour
Georgia has asked neighbouring countries to help in extinguishing the fire in the Borjomi Gorge, where the fire has already covered 12 hectares.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the fire broke out on August 20 near the village of Daba in the Borjomi Gorge. The ignition was localized.
According to Tornike Gvazava, the head of the National Forest Agency, the fire is being extinguished by three helicopters – one Georgian and two Azeri ones.
In the near future, two more helicopters from Turkey will join the works, the "News-Georgia" reports.
According to the TV Channel, no evacuation has been announced yet; however, several families have left the village.
The Georgian authorities have turned for help to all the neighbouring countries and to the EU member-states, Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Agriculture, has reported.
