Astrakhan investigators confirm arrest of 9 suspected accomplices in killing law enforcers

In the case on the killing of road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) inspectors and on the attack on fighters of the National Guard of Russia in Astrakhan, the number of detainees includes a wife of one of the killed defendants. This was reported by investigators.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 4, two DPS inspectors were killed in Astrakhan, and on April 6, three fighters from the National Guard of Russia were wounded. According to investigators, the attack involved an armed grouping including natives of the Astrakhan Region, Chechnya, and Dagestan. Four suspects were killed during the second attack and during the special operation. On April 14, four persons were arrested on suspicion of complicity in an attempt on law enforcers' lives. On August 3, Murad Velikhanov, an advocate of one of the detainees, reported that the number of the people arrested in the case had reached nine. However, the information was not confirmed officially.

"Nine persons have been detained, including a wife of one of the liquidated defendants. The court has pronounced the pre-trial restriction measure against the detainees in the form of detention," reports today the website for the Investigating Department (ID) for the Astrakhan Region of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

According to the ICRF's Department for the Astrakhan Region, the detainees provided assistance to the defendants who were later killed. They bought weapons and ammunition for the attackers, provided them with shelter, food and money, and also prepared alibis for them for the time of the crime commitment, reported the ICRF's Department for the Astrakhan Region.
