In Kuban, feminists with a child brought to police twice a day

In the Krasnodar Territory, a feminist camp has been disrupted, since its organizers were first threatened with reprisals, and then the police detained them twice a day with a minor child. This was reported by the women themselves.

The organizers of the feminist camp initially stopped at a recreation centre in the village of Djubga. However, early in the morning on August 14, people arrived in civilian clothes there and offered the feminists to go to the police. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Leda Garina, an organizer of the feminist camp from Saint Petersburg.

In total, the activists were kept at the police station for almost four hours, said Leda Garina. According to her, during all the time, her eight-year-old daughter stayed with her.

After the women were released from the police station, they moved to another camping. From there, the feminists were again brought to the police department.

"The chief of the Divnomorsky OVD (Interior Division) has told us that he will not let us stay there even for a day, wherever we go," reported Leda Garina.

Yet even during the preparation for a camp, the feminist group in "VKontakte" started receiving threats from unidentified people who claimed to be Cossacks. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Taisiya Simonova, a coordinator of the Sochi feminist unit.

According to the activist, when they arrived to a seaside village, she was called by a person, who introduced himself as a Cossack and began to threaten her.

"He said that we were tracked down at a railway station. And now they will see where we make our camp. He threatened us to wait for 'guests' at night. The man used a lot of obscene language and voiced threats. He said that they would burn down our tents and beat us with their feet. For some unknown reason they called us the people of non-traditional sexual orientation," said Taisiya Simonova.

According to her, the camp was organized jointly with the Saint Petersburg feminist organization.

"We planned to hold educational lectures on women's rights and their situation in our society," the activist stated.
