Accident at street races has led to arrest of grandson of Azerbaijani Vice-Premier
In Azerbaijan, the 23-year-old Nail Allakhverdiev, a participant of the road accident, which resulted in the death of two persons, has been arrested. He is a grandson of Ali Gasanov, the country’s Vice-Premier. According to a source from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the accident was caused by street races on expensive foreign-made cars.
A joint message of the press services of the MIA and the General Prosecutor’s Office (GPO) of Azerbaijan states that on August 3, around 9:00 p.m. in the Narimanov District of Baku, a Mercedes-Gelandewagen committed an accident by colliding against a Mazda car. As a result of the accident, two persons were killed and two more were injured.
During the study of CCTV camera records, it was established that the driver of the Mercedes-Gelandewagen was a resident of Baku, named Nail Elman oglu Allakhverdiev, born in 1994.
The message indirectly confirms the information of local mass media and social networks that Allakhverdiev is a grandson of Ali Gasanov, a Vice-Premier and the Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees. The press release notes that "irrespective of the position, merits and authority, in respect of every official and member of his family, who disregard the well-known requirements of the head of state and demonstrate an open disrespect of the society by their actions, violate traffic rules and the laws, the most stringent measures will be taken in accordance with the legislation."
